Thank you for visiting Friends of Seminole State Forest, LLC. We are a nonprofit organization, volunteer direct support group whose mission statement is: "To Help Improve our Forest for the Increased Enjoyment and Benefit of the Public". Explore our website to learn more about our mission and how you can get involved.
Hiking, biking, birding, our Tracked Chair Program, and paddling down Black Water Creek are just a few things you can do in Seminole State Forest.
There are wonderful plants, flowers, and wildlife throughout the forest, including many rare and threatened species.
Picnic tables are available for a family day out or you can spend the night at one of the eight primitive campsites.
There are 38 Florida State Forests. With the help of Friends, Seminole State Forest is the first to offer the Tracked Chair Program. These battery operated chairs are able to take those impaired on the trials through this magnificent forest, unassisted. With generous donations we have two chairs available and reservations are free of charge.
Our fundraisers, and donations, have allowed the permanent marking of the Run for the Woods courses for the publics year round use. In 2020 the 5k course was marked, the 12k is scheduled for 2023, the 1/2 marathon for 2024..

Friends of Seminole State Forest has built a bridge on the north side of Bear Pond. If you have ever hiked around the pond, you know there is a low-lying wetlands area on the trail. Some people choose to go around and the adventurous go through it and get muddy. That option is still available…
Our mission is to help improve the forest for the increased benefit and enjoyment of the public. And we continue to do so!
